Welcome From the Program Director
A message from Khalid Abusaada, MD, FACP
Internal Medicine Program Director
Welcome to our Internal Medicine Residency Program. The program’s mission is to educate internal medicine residents by providing evidence-based, patient-centered, compassionate care with a community focus. We view internists as leaders, not only in clinical care of patients, but also in medical education, community health and advancing medical knowledge. As such, the curriculum is designed to enhance our residents’ skills as clinicians, educators and leaders in healthcare delivery systems.
Aiken Regional Medical Centers offers a comprehensive range of medical services including specialties in cardiovascular and cardiovascular imaging, oncology, a 24/7 emergency department, Joint Academy, Women’s LifeCare Center, wound care, an outpatient pediatric center, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, neurosurgery, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapy. These services offer a unique opportunity for internal medicine residents to manage and care for patients with diverse pathologies and medical conditions that are needed to train well-rounded internists.
Through our partnership with the Charlie Norwood Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Augusta, Georgia) and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), we are committed to helping our residents achieve their career goals while meeting the healthcare needs of the communities we serve.
Our program is committed to creating a learning environment that encourages excellence in clinical care, scientific inquiry through scholarly pursuits, innovation in healthcare delivery systems, a diverse and inclusive workplace, and wellness of our residents and faculty.
We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to providing you with more information about our Internal Medicine Residency Program.
